Wat Umong is one of the famous place for meditation in Thailand. It is also oldest temples to Chiang Mai, built in the late 14th century. It is at the rear of Chiang Mai University in the foothills of Doi Suthep. This 60 acres meditationi centre is famous for its ancient tunnel and large stupa as well as the serene and peaceful. Under large stupa are ancient tunnel that connect another side of stupa. Most of area of temple is green and peaceful with big trees. There is small pond for feeding fish in another side of temple. This place is perfect to meditate by blending yourself with peaceful environment.
